As I said I agree that we lost the independents, but I also believe and agree with Matt Naugle, that the way forward is to boot the moderates. Independents will vote for conservatives, as Reagan proved twice. But what the Ohio GOP has given us is not conservatism, not by a long shot. The libertarians left and the GOP cannot live by social conservatism alone. Rebuild the coalition of economic and social conservatives and tell the moderate GOP folks to sit in the back of the bus for awhile.

When you're an apologist for the Republican Party, you might want to be careful about telling folks to shut up and sit in the back of the bus.
